As Paris Couture Week ’15 comes to end, New York Style Guide was definitely blown away by all the incredible looks.
But who says couture has to be over the top and extravagant and can only be worn on special occasions?
Here are some trends from Paris Couture Fashion Week that you can wear straight to the streets:
Disco Inspiration: The couture runway looks from Giorgio Armani Privé were the least thing from serene and not what you would think of as “typical couture.” Models were sent down the runway styled with short, jet-black hair and hot pink lipstick, transporting people back to their disco days. Vibrant colors like teal, magenta, purple and royal blue dominated the collection, with few looks lacking in rich adornment, with beading, glitter, ruffles or embroidery. When taking this look to the streets, do not go all disco out on us and start raiding your closet to find those platforms you wore back in the 70s. The iridescent fabric from the gowns stood out to us and by adding hints of hologram through jewelry, shoes, or hair accessories can be a super-easy way to add crazy shiny to your life, and into your wardrobe.
Flower Hairpieces: This couture season, designers gave attention to the neck up when it came to accessories. In particular, Versace topped her boho looks by having models like Lara Stone, Doutzen Kroes, Sasha Pivovarova and Anja Rubik hairs undone with bohemian waves covered with dainty flower crowns. You can take this look from the couture runway to the streets by wearing a flower crown on top of your head and keeping the rest of your look totally bohemian. Remember, the lower the crown on the forehead, the more boho the look becomes.
All White: Chanel sure did raise the bar during this Paris Couture Week as he built a busy casino inside of the Grand Palais. Kendall Jenner had the privilege of closing the show with her show-stopping look as the couture bride, wearing a crisp double-breasted white coat, slim trousers and a veil-like shawl that glided behind her. The look was carefree that both traditional and not your typical bride would enjoy wearing. You can add some wedding inspiration without looking like a bride to your wardrobe by wearing an all white look. When wearing all white make sure to mix fabrics and textures to add a lot of dimension to break up this look.
