Celebrating Miami Art Week 2016, CoveringsETC and LAUFEN hosted a private luncheon at Miami Ironside’s campus collective on November 30.

The luncheon, attended by architecture and design notables, focused on Bespoke Design, gathering ideas and expressing various points of views from designers and manufacturers in the architecture and design industry.  The focus of the room was 10 hand-designed LAUFEN saphirkeramik washbasins decorated by 11 Brazilian creatives from the fields of architecture, design, fashion, photography, ready for bidding. The bidding on the washbasins extended into the evening, for a cocktail event where the funds raised benefitted Brazilian charity, Projecto TAMAR and New World Symphony, America’s Orchestral Academy.

Guests were greeted in the CoveringsETC + Laufen Showroom, with champagne and appetizers by Unique Catering Design.

Notables who were present to enjoy the four course meal on classically white dressed tables, accented by white hydrangeas included: Tim Archbault and Christian Glauser Benz from Oppenheim Architect & Design, who both took part in the conversation about Bespoke design, Gaston Isoldi Director of Americas Maison et Objet, Iva Kosovic NWS, Marc Viardot, LAUFEN Director of Marketing & Products, Jenny Lynn George CEO of CoveringsETC, Bennett Friedman, Principal of AF New York (AFNY) who led an interactive discussion about Bespoke Design being introduced into the New York market as well as the importance of personalization in the design industry, and finally Ofer Mizrahi, visionary of Miami Ironside and CoveringsETC.

Bennett Friedman began the discussion, implementing Bespoke Design and their role in bringing this ideology within the industry, stating “environmentally friendly products are heroes in today’s society.” The discussion that followed engaged designers, architectures and material specialists alike, ending the luncheon on thought provoking conversations.

COVERINGS ETC PARTNERS WITH LAUFEN TO AUCTION ONE-OF-A-KIND WASHBASIN DESIGN PIECES WITH BRAZILIAN-INSPIRED ARTWORK DURING MIAMI ART WEEK 2016

MIAMI (Tuesday, November 15, 2016)Coverings ETC, Miami-based sustainable surfaces creator founded by Miami Ironside’s Ofer Mizrahi, will host a private luncheon followed by an evening fundraiser cocktail hour as part of the campus collective’s kickoff to Miami Art Week on Wednesday, November 30th to raise funds for two notable charities. During the luncheon, a unique auction of 10 LAUFEN washbasins that were uniquely hand-designed by 11 creative Brazilian visionaries as part of the Brazilian cultural awareness exhibition at Miami Art Week 2015 will commence and run through the evening cocktail hour. New World Symphony, America’s Orchestral Academy and Projeto TAMAR, a Brazilian non-profit working to protect sea turtles, will each auction 5 of the washbasins.

Guests are invited to sip refreshing libations at the evening affair during a pre-kick-off to Miami Art Week 2016 that is not to be missed. High-end Swiss bath fixture maker, LAUFEN, is bringing 10 unique saphirkeramik washbasins that were decorated by Brazilian creatives from the fields of architecture, design, fashion, photography and the general arts with their own visual translation of Brazil. The basins presented during LAUFEN’s‘impressões’ event at Miami Art Week 2015 – a multi-disciplinary panel discussion that addressed how the art and design community in Brazil is being challenged by the economy.

The round 380 mm SaphirKeramik washbasin from LAUFEN, a blank canvas, gave a free creative territory for names like Antônio Ferreira Jr. and Mário Celso Bernardes; Arthur Casas; Christian Cravo; Derlon Almeida; Jader Almeida; João Armentano; Marko Brajovic; Patricia Anastassiadis; Ricardo Bello Dias and Ronaldo Fraga which proposed designs for it.

In total, only five pieces of each were produced – one for the artist/designer, two for charity institutions, and two went to the LAUFEN collection and for exhibitions worldwide. Since their launch on September 17th at the Bienal Pavillion in São Paulo, the Impressões 2015 have been presented during London Design Festival, Lodz Design Festival, in LAUFEN’s showroom in Miami at events during Design Miami and at salone del Mobile in 2016.

“We’re thrilled to be able to auction these authentic and inspiring pieces at our fundraising cocktail hour,” says Jenny Lynn George, CEO of CoveringsETC. “Our work with a variety of materials allows us to truly value the opportunity to turn something custom-made into a work of art. Being a part of Miami Art Week is critical to CoveringsETC’s larger mission of embracing creativity and leaving the world in a better place than we found it.”
