We recently had the pleasure of speaking with Tatiana Walker, a Special Education teacher in Queens, New York. She works very hard to ensure every student is performing up to their highest potential, and has several colleagues working toward the same goals. A teachers life may not be as glamorous as the fashion world, but it can be a very rewarding and important career. Ms. Walker realized there are many teachers in the field who give so much of themselves, but they forget that they have lives too. Ms. Walker wants to help her colleagues to get away from the stereotypical “teacher” look, and into the world looking their best. It is our pleasure to introduce you to Ms. Tatiana Walker.
NYSG: Hi Ms. Walker and thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to sit down with us.
Tatiana Walker: Thank you for having me.
NYSG: Please tell the audience about the program that you would like to begin for teachers.
Tatiana Walker: I would like to have a platform for teachers to gain better insight on how to dress both professionally, but also fashionably. Often times teachers are deemed as “looking like a teacher” and it is often not meant in a good way. Teachers don’t have to have a dull and boring look. We are teachers not old, boring women. So it is my hope that my blog will inspire some trends and spruce up teacher wardrobes.
NYSG: Why is this program so important to you?
Tatiana Walker: It is important to me because I am a young professional and I take a lot of pride in my appearance. I believe the way a woman dresses says a lot about who she is. I think we should always look our best no matter what. When you look good, you feel good.
NYSG: What do you want/hope to accomplish?
Tatiana Walker: I hope to accomplish a new definition of what it means to “look like a teacher.”
NYSG: Going forward, what would you want to tell your colleagues?
Tatiana Walker: I want to tell my colleagues that we have the BEST profession in the world. We birth the doctors, lawyers, judges, authors, chefs, models and more!! We deserve to look superb while being superwomen!!
NYSG: We want you to continue making strides to help your colleagues with their fashion sense. What are your plans for the future?
Tatiana Walker: My plan for the future is to have an online blog where they can access my fashion tips and take a peek into my own personal closet.
NYSG: If anyone has questions about their fashion sense and what you have done for this article, how can they contact you?
Tatiana Walker: You can find me on Facebook at Tatiana Walker or at misstatiana.wordpress.com.
NYSG: Thank you again Ms. Walker for taking time out of your very busy schedule to share your wonderful vision with our audience.
