Gucci has done it again with their Spring/Summer Fashion Show in Milan. The look of the new collection is one of elegance and romantic yet not dated. Alessandro Michele infuses the new line with lavish colors and textures that are sure to grab everyone’s attention when seen in public. This is the second womenswear collection he has done for Gucci but it is the first one that has his stamp as the full creative director.

Michele has used many different aspects for his inspiration of this collection including Catre de Tendre, known for its 17th Century French imaginary. He also used other influences like the fashion of 1970’s and deriving inspiration from books and nature alike.

“It was the idea of something that you see is not exactly real, from the Renaissance again like a tromp l’oeil you can be what you want, also if it doesn’t exist. It is a personal view of beauty, so I tried to map what I had in my head,” Michele said.

His imagination has given us the use of ruffles and pleats. The pleated skirts blend together with ruffled blouses; dresses that blend the ruffles in front with short cut sleeves; and flowers embroidered on almost ever piece in the collection.

The show was held at an abandoned train depot, draped in beautiful green plants and a serpent carpet to give feel of a lush garden.
