What do you get when you mix fashion and music together? Funkshion: Fashion Week Miami Beach, that is!
Funkshion’s Miami Swim Week (Thursday July 16th through Sunday July 20th), created four days of steamy style with runway shows and fashion based events that displayed the most breathtaking summer looks from designers around the world. The festivities took place at popular hotels that are recognized by fashion such as The Setai, SLS, and The Thompson. The Funkshion Tent, where most of the events took place, was located between 21st and 22nd Street on Collins Avenue.
Thursday July 16th, began with a whirlwind of swimwear shows from brands such as Liliana Montoya. Other designers such as Robb & Lulu, Luli Fama, Maaji, with many more were also seen sending their swimwear collections down the runway. All of the catwalk activity led up to Swim Week’s largest event, SwimShow, where thousands of swimwear lines and fashion buyers come together and grab today’s seasonal designs. For the people of fashion, nevertheless, the most thrilling event of the week was the Emerging Designer Series, a notable runway show that gives rising creatives the opportunity to show their designs without having to spend a dime. Winners of the competition were given the chance to display their line at Swim Week in Miami and win a trip to New York Fashion Week.
Funkshion sure did make a splash as fashion was far from ordinary, taking over South Beach Miami! We can’t wait till next year!
